Using cows to help combat climate change? – Posted in: Uncategorized

Richard Branson asks some very pertinent questions on his recent blog:

Methane from cows is often hailed as one of the biggest contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions. But what if cows aren’t the problem?

What if the way that humans are managing cows is the root cause of the issue?

What if simply changing the ways we manage our livestock back to the way Mother Nature does it, with her large wild herds and grasslands, actually brought the soil back to life? This could in turn help take care of the carbon released from the cows and beyond.

The work being done by the Savory Institute and their partners is an example of how further understanding ecosystems and working with Mother Nature can potentially make a huge difference in the fights against biodiversity loss, desertification and even helping to combat climate change.
