In January the Ahimsa Team attended the Oxford Real Farming Conference. The conference was hosted by Colin Tudge and Grahame Harvey, and focused on farming based on ecological principles, taking account of the interdependence of all living things. It took a hard look at the real costs to the planet and environment resulting from ever increasing chemical inputs and unnecessary exploitation of natural resources. A vibrant and inspiring gathering of small farmers, community groups and campaigners shared insights in creating a truly low impact system. Slaughter-free milk now available in the USA!
USA's first organic certified slaughter-free dairy has opened up in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. The 350 acre Gita Nagari Yoga Farm (run by the Hare Krishna community) runs a CSA community supported agriculture scheme, providing both dairy and vegetables to cities on the East Coast.
